Medical Matters

If your child is absent from school due to illness or for any other medical reasons, a message must be left with the school office on the first day of absence via the school answerphone or by email to absence@unicorn.bromley.sch.uk.  All infectious diseases must be notified.

The office staff will oversee the administration of all medication. The medication must be prescribed by a doctor, bearing a named prescription label. Children must not bring over-the-counter medication into school. Any medication must be accompanied by a completed parental agreement form (this can be downloaded below). Cough/throat sweets are not allowed in school. Asthma pumps must be kept in the school office for office staff to administer.

If your child requires antibiotics four times a day, a dose can be left with the office staff, accompanied by written instructions.

If you wish to discuss any special arrangements, please speak to the School Business Manager.

When a child is absent due to vomiting and/or diarrhoea, please ensure that he/she is symptom-free for at least 48 hours before returning to school.

Please refer to our full Medical Needs Policy.
