Boys School Football Team (1 images)

We are so proud of our Boys School Football Team. In the history of Unicorn no team has been more successful. This year the team has won the 7s district tournament and won the league on goal difference beating teams such as Biggin Hill and Highfield. They were runners up in the cup match against Pickhurst and have won an Under 11s tournament held at Warlingham sports ground. The boys played six other schools and only conceded one goal in the final. Match. The shield they won is being displayed in the School Foyer. Andy has said what a privilege it has been to work with this team. They support each other and strive to be the best they can. Well done, boys; you have been a great team.

Hockey Competition (12 images)

On Tuesday 30th January the Unicorn Hockey team faced their first competition of the year. There were thirty Bromley schools attending the event at Langley Boys School. Despite being the first time that this team had played competitively together they managed to impress Miss Letchford with their skills and confidence. In their pool Unicorn played against Midfield, Keston, Holy Innocents and Leesons. They won three out of the four matches; however the loss against Keston meant Unicorn came 2nd in the pool, not making it through to the finals on this occasion. We are all so proud of your efforts and your resilience. Millie went onto speak about her first Hockey competition, and debut representing the school on the Chris Evans breakfast radio show. Unicorn came sixth overall out of the thirty schools.

Cross Country at Crystal Palace (3 images)

On a cold and wet November morning the year 5 and 6 Unicorn Cross Country team congregated in Crystal Palace Park. They joined over 54 Bromley Schools competing in the 55th running of the Bromley Primary Schools Cross Country Championships, which was first staged in December 1988. The 15 pupil strong team raced against 1,200 participants and ran a distance of 1,800 metres per race. The Unicorn pupils showed high spirit and aspiration to further improve on their previous race positions. For Mia, Fynn and Annie this was to be their first Cross Country race and, despite the nerves, all completed their races with respectable positions. The year 5 girls team showed real promise with the majority of the girls coming in below the first 100. Luke in Year 5 attained the lowest position in the Unicorn team (21st), even after falling head over heels in the mud during the race! Huge congratulations go to all of the pupils who took part; you showed real commitment and determination to do your best. Full results about race positions, individual medallists and winning teams are published on the http://www.bpscca.co.uk website. Special thanks must also go to Miss Elvines, Miss Letchford, Mr Harrison and Mrs Robinson for supporting the event through marshalling the race course and for collating the positions of the pupils at the end of each race. Without this support we could not run the event safely and smoothly. Thank you also for all the parents that came and supported the team. It isa huge team effort and really does require a team to make it work. Details of the race for year 3 and 4 are to follow in the new year.

Girls' Football Tournament (2 images)

On Thursday 19th October 2017, a very excited and enthusiastic team of year 5 girls competed in the Bromley Schools 6 a-side football tournament at Bromley Town Football Club. This was to be the first time that the girls had represented Unicorn at a football event. There were 12 schools in total competing in the event. The girls group consisted of 6 schools which included Clare House, Hayes and Worsley Bridge. The tough competition resulted in one draw against Hayes and four defeats. Throughout the tournament the girls continued to support one another and kept a positive mindset even when the odds were stacked against them. The organisers of the event commented on their passionate cheering for their team mates. A special mention goes to Ava, Emma, Mia, Sophie and Suzannah for taking on the daunting role of the goal keeper. We are all very proud of their efforts. As a result of this positive experience we are going to be offering a football club for girls to attend. Look out for the sports club letters in January.

Key Stage One 7 a-side Football Competition (11 images)

On Tuesday 26th September 2017 nine Year 2 children represented Unicorn for the first time in a 7 a-side football competition. The event was held at Bromley Town Football Club where seven schools from across the Bromley borough competed. The Unicorn team played six matches where they competed to a very high standard. They drew two matches and lost one out of the six. Miss Letchford who accompanied the team commented on how impressed she was with the way that the children played well as a team and showed good sportsmanship throughout the competition. They demonstrated a good level of maturity and were able to think about what was best for the team rather than what was best for them as individual players. Lucas and Harry were jointly voted men of the match, but Miss Letchford was so proud of all the childrens efforts on the day. We are pleased to announce that the Unicorn team won the competition. Well done Daniel, Lucas, Harry, Ben, Kealan, Ethan, Dougie, Efe and Eddie. We hope that you continue to work hard on the football pitch and represent Unicorn again in the future.
